I had no pain in this tooth.
After a denitist apointment and xray, he said I needed a root canal.
SO I had it done.
I have only had 1 apt, and the tooth is now packed.
When I bite down on food this tooth is sensitive!!!!!
My question is.....will it be like this forever now? or when he finishes the tooth off, I will feel nothing.
Root Canal?
No not at all!! It should feel better soon if the dentist removed all the old nerve!!
The tooth nerve died long ago probably since you had no previous pain, but now from the procedure you are experiencing a root bruise from the work the dentist had to do to remove the nerve.
This is VERY comon!!
Ibuprophen or pain pills for 3 days should fix it!!
Reply:It won't be sensitive after you get the crown on it.
Reply:I just had one done too and my pain stopped soon after I came home that day, of course my dentist prescribed my 800mg capsules of painkillers so that helped obviously. But, after the first initial 2 weeks my pain was gone altogether and it only throbbed sometimes if I ate something really cold, like ice-cream. After I got it crowned though, the pain stopped completely. =)
Reply:That's completely normal. These root canals tend to hurt and be sensitive until your crown goes on after and even then it might take some getting use to. Of course it won't be like that forever.... You probaly shouldn't use that tooth until your next appt.
Reply:Nope you will be fine after the crown actually I had one done and didn't have a crown on for a very long time and it was ok but after going so long without a crown my tooth began to die so I got one put on. The tooth will settle down dont worry
