Root Canal?

How long does it take? and is it painful..? Im terrified to death of the dentist and i think on thursday they have to do a root canal on my bad chiped front tooth..

Root Canal?
it shouldn't take long, since it is on a front tooth... which only has one root.... won't be much different than getting a filling... try not to be too anxious

will be over before you know it............
Reply:Have you ever had a shot? That's the worst of it......shots to deaden your mouth, that's all. The rest will just be o.k. I have had many root canals and really don't remember any being horrible. It's the thinking about it that's hard! You will do fine!
Reply:i wish you luck lol i had one when i was a kid but i really didn't think much of it.. they didn't even give me any medicine i think i was good to go, but it took two separate sessions i think...
Reply:AFTER THE ROOT CANAL IS DONE YOU WILL ALSO NEED A CROWN OVER THIS TOOTH TO KEEP IT FROM FRACTURING.

BECAUSE YOU WILL HAVE ANESTHETIC FOR THE ROOT CANAL THE PROCEDURE IS PAINLESS.
Reply:It used to be a painful process, but not any more. You will be fine.
Reply:The good thing is that the front incisor is the easiest tooth to do the root canal on. The anesthetic is also in the least painful of positions.

It should take no more than 20-30 minutes depending on how skilled the dentist is. All they will do is access the root canal by drilling a hole at the back of the front tooth, clean out the canal using various files, fill the canal up and then seal the whole thing by using a tooth coloured composite so you wont even be able to tell they drilled into your tooth.
Reply:it's more uncomfortable than painful. afterwards, you could experience some pain, but the dentist should prescribe pain meds.
Reply:The Dentist will xray the tooth and ask a few questions, then explain to you what he thinks is the problem and the best course of treatment. The time of treatment will vary from case to case, non of which should be painful. The Dr. is trying to save the tooth and make you look better. The worse pain will come from your pocketbook.
