Root canal =/?

I had to go to a Edthontist on Wednseday, on my two front teeth. And I was wondering what are some relievers I can take so the pulsing ache can go away. Also how long does it take for the ache to be finally gone?

Root canal =/?
I guess you mean orthodontist, and that you may need a root canal. Sometimes the hurting tooth can make a tooth next to it feel painful too. When the dentist taps on it, you'll know which one it is. If you already had the root canal, there shouldn't be any pain, because the inflamed root was removed. When I had a very painful front tooth happened to be when my dentist and his partner both were unavailable. Try to find a new dentist on short notice - not possible. So I waited. I was told to take Advil and use some Ambesol. Wow, it really worked well. By accident I found that holding cool water in the mouth, touching the tooth totally relieves the pain, but only for about a minute. The Advil kicked in after about 15 minutes, what a blessed relief. I took two Advil every six hours, my doc said was okay, even though the bottle says not to exceed 6 in 24 hours.
Reply:it doesn't
Reply:IBuprofen ... Brush teeth with a sensitive toothpaste
Reply:The doctor should give you like vicodin or something like that. Call them and ask for some pain relievers.
Reply:Oh, I symphathize. I've had three root canals. Vicodin worked best for me.

I've also used ibuprofin. My dentist said it was OK to take twice the recommended amount for a day or two.

Rinsing with warm salt water helps with swelling. It's going to last for a few days at least.
Reply:Suggest call the Dr. that did the surgery. If you cannot get relief call him! Doesn't matter if it is off hours. Call and say this is an emergency. Could be infected if it is throbbing! Read this message and call now!!!
Reply:An Endodontist is a specialist in Root Canal Therapy. Did the endodotist complete the treatments, or did he/she see you for only a consultation? My guess is the endodontist did complete the treatment and you are still in pain, so I would advise you to contact him/her for pain management and/or advice. If you did not take a round of antibiotics prior to the treatment, the endodontist may prescribe one for you, as well as a pain medication. Most specialists have an after hours answering service for emergencies. Don't be hesitant about calling - that's what they're there for. Take care, and hope you feel better soon.
