Root canal?

Any information would be welcomed, I just want to inform myself.

Root canal?
I got two done last week in les than 45mins. I was really scared and my Dr. prescribed Halcion (oral sedative) which really relaxed me (I only took one pill, an hour before my apponitment and felt tired and sleepy). I didn't fall asleep, I mean, you're at the endodontist for crying out loud! Let's be real! But honestly, the only thing that hurt was the novocaine shot which lasted for 4 secs!! It's really a walk in the park. Afterwards you'll feel a little sore, but ibuprofen does the job. I can't tell you how relieved I am... I stressed out way too much for nothing! The pain I felt before the root canal was the WORST ever. I fractured my teeth when I was little, and it developed into an "oh so painful" abscess. I was on pain meds and antibiotics (flagyl and amoxicillin), so nooo alcohol at all!! And it got so much better, and now I am almost in the clear. People who give it a bad rap is either because they got it done AGES ago, or their dentist didn't give them enough novocaine.
Reply:It doesnt hurt too bad. I needed two in one day. the thing that hurts the most is having your mouth open for a long time Also i dont like to hear the noise.
Reply:Root canals dont hurt to bad it depends on the dentist really!!

just hold on to something real tight!!! GOOD LUCK
Reply:it will not hurt you a lot. it's just feels like an ant bit you. =)
Reply:Root canals are a waist of time. The dentist will tell you that you need the tooth (and maybe you do). The fact is though that the tooth will still eventually break and come out even with a root canal. The dentist will tell you this won't happen for a while but it happens in about a year ot two. Its better to get the tooth pulled and not have a tooth, get a permanent tooth or a bridge. You'd save yourself time, money and pain.
Reply:After my root canal, being tortured in Abu Gahbid prison would be bearable.
