Root Canal Question?

I recently had a root canal done on my upper tooth next to the front tooth. I kept feeling something funny with my tongue and when I looked in the mirror, I metal from the back of the crown. Is the metal suppose to be showing? I think it was tooth #7 on the top and the root canal was done about 3 weeks ago and the perminate crown was just put on 3 days ago.

Root Canal Question?
Your should probably make another appointment to see either the dentist who did the work and/or your regular dentist, especially if you develop a sore in your mouth from this! It might be something as simple as just taking a burr off the metal appliance! Although sometimes things like this just take a while to get used to, your best bet if you are concerned is: "If in doubt, check it out"!

Hope this helps!
Reply:Theres different types of crowns I have 3 on my front teeth cause they were knocked out. ON mine, one is metal and i cant see the metal behind it. It may not be in tight enough so I would call the dentist office
Reply:Yes, this is normal. The metal is what helps make the crown strong. Don't worry. I have a few and they all have metal in the back. If you are feeling a rough spot with your tongue, I suggest you go back and have them take a look. Sometimes the adhesive seeps through, and you get a little bit back there. A simple flick with one of the tools will get rid of it.
Reply:When you have an anterior crown it should be a porcelain crown sometimes with metal undeneath the porcelain coating . They do make them with no metal, they are more fragile. Some are metal on back porcelain on front, cheaper to make ..... mostly not visible to others which sounds like the crown you have. Try not to toss your head back when you laugh or oops people will know you have a crown!! and they shouldnt if done corectly.
