Ok, so i take care of my teeth but when i was a teenager i had problems with my teeth, now my dentist wants my to have 4 root canals, it is going to cost approxiamatly $6500 after crowns are done also, my insurance will only pay about 2500, i can not get a loan, is there any way my medical insurance will help pay for some of the work, i have john deer med insurance....
Root canal....?
Yep, it stinks. Medical insurance won't pay. A cheaper alternative, is just having the teeth pulled.
I've had a dental nighmare myself this year, and MY dental coverage is also maxed out for the year. Which stinks.
There are two things you can do, if you still want to go the root canal/crown method: 1. Ask your dentist if he would agree to do it for payments, with the understanding it will probably take a couple years to pay off or 2. see if he has access to one of those "no interest" dental payment companies - he pays the interest, you make monthly payments to a third party. But I think you have to have a decent credit score for that alternative.
Reply:thats what you get for having a lawn mower as an insurance company...
Reply:No, but what I did was get one per year...if you aren't in a great deal of pain...I had to have 4 and it is so expensive.
The other option is that the crowns are the most expensive part of that charge, so either skip the porcelen and get gold (much cheaper about half the cost of porcelen) or keep the temp crown and get the crowns each year.
You don't have to have the crown right away, when you have the root canal you get a temporary crown, you can live with the temporary crown for a year or two...it isn't as nice feeling in your mouth as a real crown, but you don't have to pay out a thousand dollars for the crown until your insurance resets at the begining of next year.
Reply:I second the 1 or 2 a year thing. That is what my husband does. Your insurance will reset its annual max every year.
