Root canal and Type II Diabetes?

Are Type II diabetics more prone to getting infections after getting a root canal? What other risk factors should Type II diabetics consider when getting a root canal? What would be a better option than getting a root canal for people with Type II diabetes? Thank you

Root canal and Type II Diabetes?
The above answer is generalizing. A well controlled type two is at no greater risk of infection than anyone else. I heal quickly and am not prone to infection. In fact, my blood sugars are nearly normal most of the time. An out of control diabetic is far more likely to experience problems due to consistently high blood sugar issues. If you're doing a good job of controlling your type two, don't worry. If not, consider other options.
Reply:As a diabetic myself I can tell you that all diabetics are more prone to infection than those who don't have diabetes. I've also had root canal work done, but apart from reminding the dentist that I was diabetic before the procedure started (it should be added to your notes) I had no problems getting the work done. Hope it's the same for you.
