Root canal?

what is the sealant put in the root canal when done and if your tooth is filled and crowned do u need a post

Root canal?
They put Gutta Percha inside the root canal, it looks like a long peice of rubber. And for a crown, you shouldn't need a post to keep it on, they should just be able to cement it on!
Reply:I'm not sure what the material is that they use for fillings. It use to be silver but now they have better materials that can closely match the color of your teeth. I believe a post would only be used if the tooth has too much decay to hold the crown. If no crown is used and the tooth can just be filled then you would not have a post at all. If you do need a crown but the tooth does not have a lot of decay (maybe it was just cracked) then they will shape the tooth to more or less make the post.
Reply:The put Gutta Percha to fill in the space where the nerve was. Not sure if you would need a post without seeing x-rays.
