Root canal or not?

I live in Melbourne, and I've heard so many bad things about root canal. My husband is about to get one (on the way), the doctor's had his previous filling taken off and have one temporary filling to replace, and in between that she's done something to the tooth which my husband doesn't know but he's sure she hasn't perform any root canal yet. He got his appointment rescheduled to the coming Tuesday and it's been 1 1/2 weeks since the last visit. He's experiencing heart pain and he had headache a couple of days ago. I asked him to have the tooth pulled out instead but he didn't want to because it's going to cost so much. And now it's me sitting here wondering what I can do to persuade him and it's hurting me so much to know all the things that will/might happen to him after the root canal. Will the alternative (to pull the tooth out instead) cost so much more? He hasn't got insurance and can't afford to be on the waiting list. Advices please? What's with the pain?

Root canal or not?
if its a back tooth id say RIP IT OUT ,,,lol

my hubby had a root canal it cost over $650 over 5 visits and he still had another visit to go,,, so he stopped going, within a year he got pain so went to another dentist and my hubby just said take it out!

a year later he need another root canal on another tooth,, this time my hubby said take it out straight away, cost $180 and pain all gone

all those problems stressed me out so when i had a bad toothache i went dentist, they gave me a filling and months later it still hurt like hell

i went back and they said i needed a root canal,,,, i said ''no way. just take it out now''

cost me $220 and no more problems

a root caNAL COSTS SO MUCH, IM AN AUSSIE TOO, SO HERE ITS BETTER TO JUST TAke out the tooth unless u wanna do all u can to save that tooth ,,,, good luck xxxxxxxxxx
Reply:No wonder hes having chest pains

Root canal can cost thousands.

First look at were its located and if it will be noticeable if the tooth was removed as that's what I would be opting for and I'm insured.

I would seriously look at having it pulled you husband is nervous as all hell and I don't blame him.

My husband was heavily sedated when he has his done and the only reason he had it done it was a work accident he Had all his front teeth cracked

Soooooooooooo after root canal treatment none of his teeth are white as the nerves have been removed.

Hes a non smoker as well..He had his done in Adelaide and they knew it was a compo claim but once it was done I was getting these calls from his wife about the $2.500 payment, well never again............I would never ever agree to root canal treatment some times it only lasts a few years
