Tooth with Root canal question?

I had a root canal on a back molar about a year ago, but a cap was never put on it.... now i can see a small hole in the side of the tooth that had the root canal. So now i am just wondering whether it is likely or not that i will need the root canal re-done on that tooth due to the hole or whether the dentist will just be able to fill the hole just like any other cavity????

Thanks

Tooth with Root canal question?
after a RCT, a crown must be fixed because the enamel becomes very brittle due to lack of blood %26amp; nerve supply. If it does not hurt, go get the crown fixed, no need to get the RCT redone.
Reply:Roots canals are sually not re-done. Most likely you have a cavity and will have to have your tooth pulled out. Ouch! Fly to the dentist.
Reply:You will probably need a post and core buildup if you had not already had one. The crown will be placed on top of that so you wont have to worry. Dont wait too long, a root canal treated tooth has no more blood supply so it is very brittle and can beak easily
Reply:Once they take an x-ray...the dentist will determine the extent of decay.Often times just a little drilling to clean out the cavity will do.It all depends if the infection is deep enough to require a root canal. But most likely a simple clean-out will do.Just make sure you cap it or all that work will be useless.P.S. try and get a porcelain crown....they are the best!
