Root Canal?

My dentist recently said that one of my cavitys is very deep, almost to my nerve. She is worried about doing a root canal. I want to know, is it painful? Are the needles painful? Im very, very scared. What should I do.

Root Canal?
Do not be scared, a root canal is like doing a filling, except that it takes more time. http://www.studiodentaire.com/en/treatme...

Yes, the dentist has to numb the tooth, that is why she uses needles, the same way it is used for fillings.

You might experience a bit of pain after the procedure, for a few days, but pain killers like Advil or Tylenol are usually enough to help.
Reply:There's just pressure and that's it . It may be somewhat painful but you'll get through it . Also , ask the dentist to wiggle your lips while he/she is giving anastasia .
Reply:if she is a dentist why is she worried about the root canal? a root canal is usually an unevenful procedure. root canal horror stories are more common when the tooth is so infected, it is hard to get it numb. no reason to be scared. most dentists use topical anesthetic to numb the area on the gum where the needle goes. it might be uncomfortable for a moment or two, but you will be fine!
Reply:Not painful. They spray your mouth with a tasty numbing compound so you don't feel the needle. I have had several of them. No problem. Keep your own teeth as long as you possibly can.
