Root Canal?

Can you tell me about your root canal experience(s).

I have never had one done and I am a little nervous.

I've been told that the more your tooth hurts when you go in for the procedure, it is more prone to complication and pain.

I know everything will be fine, but i would like to know your opinions. Thank you in advance for answering!

Root Canal?
It's longer and more complicated than getting a filling, but with the novocaine, it is more or less painless while you are in the chair.

If the tooth is infected, you'll have to take a round of antibiotics before they will touch it.

It ends the pain you had beforehand, tho!

But the crown is sooooooo expensive!
Reply:Don't know about no Root Canal, but I could tell you all you need to know about the Panama Canal.
Reply:Good Question!!

MAke sure to get some rest .

It hurts!
Reply:hi with the improved techniques and advancement in medicine there is no procedure that is awfully painful.the procedure will be started with a local anesthetic and after that u wont feel any pain , but u can feel what they do ... if the tooth is badly damaged then it is a challenge for the dentist to do the procedure and no botherations for the pt , hope u are convinced .. bet i have undergone more complicated procedure than rct myself..
Reply:I had a root canal a couple years back.It wasn't bad at all,the worst part for me was the freezing(I hate needles). After words I had very little pain ,just be careful not to eat on that tooth for a couple of days or so.
Reply:it doesnt hurt a bit but it will be a long trip. i'm thinking of having mine extracted(after a root canal several months ago)
Reply:I cracked one of my molars on a damn pizza crust about 2 years ago. It was pretty sensitive to cold (even breathing through my mouth). My dentist wanted me to get a root canal before he crowned that tooth.

I felt no pain at all, you are totally numbed. It just takes a while - 2 hours if I remember. I had to be careful because it was a few days between the root canal and the crown and I had a temp crown on (no eating caramels or anything).

I had no problems and it was no big deal. Just annoying to sit there for two hours and not be able to move until you got a break.
