Root Canal plus Crown?

I had a root canal and crown put in on the same day two full days ago. I still can not chew on the right side of my mouth where the root canal is. If my teeth even touch together from the top to bottom it hurts so bad. To top it off, my front teeth where my gums are, are sore too. I keep flossing my teeth, but it's like a dull ache in my bottom front teeth.

The root canal and crown where done on my bottom right side.

What do you think I should do?

Root Canal plus Crown?
You may need nothing more than a slight adjustment on the occlusion of the crown. The ligaments of the tooth are probably sore from all of the work that has been done. Yes, the tooth is dead, but all the ligaments and tissue are very much alive and will react to stimuli. See your dentist for the adjustment as soon as possible, this tooth will not wear down on it's own.

You can take Advil or Motrin 600mg every 4-6 hours to help reduce the inflammation and swelling that this tooth may be experiencing. See your dentist tomorrow or contact him for his advice.

Additional information: Try not to eat hard, crunchy or chewy foods until you see your dentist. As for the anterior tissue bothering you, it may be from the rubber dam if one was used and pulled through at the anterior teeth, or it's possible that it's just from being worked on which can cause some discomfort for a day or two.
Reply:Thats bad. They could have hit a nerve. Go back and tell them. I have had a couple of rool canals and it stops hurt after a day. then its just uncomfortable to have a new tooth. but you get used to that too.
Reply:Go back to the dentist immediately.. He needs to check the cap to see if it's fitted right. It may be too high %26amp; need to be shaved down or he might have to take off the cap %26amp; check that he got the entire root out.

In the meantime, try Anbesol or Orajel to put on the tooth and on the gums. It should lessen the pain %26amp; soreness. Take Aleve or Advil for the pain %26amp; any swelling.

Try an ice pack on the outside of your mouth where the tooth is, try gargling with hot salt water.

Hope you feel better.
Reply:The root canal may not have been successful. It is not uncommon for dentists to miss a small canal when they are doing a root canal procedure. There are sometimes canals that are present that are hard to see, and sometimes they are missed. The crown may also be a little high, meaning it does not occlude properly with the rest of your teeth, throwing your bite off which can make you sore. Report this to your dentist, they may be able to adjust the crown making it more comfortable. Also if you are flossing too hard this can also make your gums sore. Floss everyday, but be gentle. You don't have to slice and dice as I call it to be successful in regards to flossing. You should be sliding the floss gently in between your teeth, sliding up under the gum-line and gently moving it up and down on each side of your tooth. Repeat this, winding a new section of floss around your fingers, until you have flossed the entire mouth. As I said report your symptoms to your dentist to see if they can get to the bottom of this.
