Root canal and now there is pain?
It sounds as if the tooth is re-infected. If the tooth is not closed properly, bacteria can get down in the tooth and cause infection. The reason that it is sensitive to pressure is that the infection has no where to go so it builds up at the tip of the root of the tooth. So, every time you bite down it causes pain. You need to call your dentist. If he will not complete the root canal while you are pregnant (I have never heard of this, only in the first trimester), you need to be on a course of antibiotics because the infection can be harmful to you and your developing fetus.
Reply:Sometimes the dentist doesn't get the entire nerve root. You'll have to go back and he'll ream it out some more. Once the entire nerve root is gone, you CAN'T feel any pain. No nerve, no pain. Lucky you.
Reply:he probably didn't get it all. there may be a crack in the tooth also. it is tricky b/c of your condition. with seeing a specialist, who will need to take x-rays it will be hard to tell. sorry, i finally had to have a tooth extracted because there was a crack in the tooth that they missed, so i went through two root canals for nothing. good luck.
Reply:I had two root canals - two on each side.

And it really does suck.

The thing is you really can't do much - and it will hurt for a while - seems like centuries.

The best advice I could give you is go to a local walgreens, and tell them you need some orajel, or something safe (seeing as your pregnant) and the pain will ease, but be temporary - the sell tons of stuff that will numb it. Your bound to find something.

Good luck.
Reply:Molars sometimes have four canals and perhaps one was overlooked which could cause these symptoms. The tooth could also have a crack or the temporary could be hitting first. Go back to your dentist and have it evaluated. Good Luck.
Reply:EASY GO BACK TO THE DENTIST AND HAVE THEM LOOK AT HOW YOUR BITING DOWN , AND THEY CAN SHAVE DOWN THE TEMP !
Reply:Check back in with the dentist. You could try Sensodyne toothpaste. Hopefully, you'll be able to hang in there until the baby comes and get the permanent fix done. Good luck and congrats on the baby.
