The last molar on my upper right jaw, the one right before my wisdom tooth, is all rotted away and my dentist says I should do a root canal on it. I was wondering if a root canal is needed when it is on the last molar in my mouth. My insurance only covers 70% of the cost so I may not be able to get it, and getting the tooth pulled costs way less. Does anyone know if I should definitly get a root canal or just get the tooth pulled. If I do get the root canal, does it hurt and I heard it sometimes fails and you have to get more work done or get it pulled anyway. If someone could let me know whether or not it is worth getting a root canal or not? Thanks.
Should I get a root canal?
I've been getting my teeth fixed over the last year - my dentist pulled 1 upper right molar and one lower left molar - said it was fine if I didn't have them as long as I still had at least one molar left.
I have also had root canals done on others and have no problems whatsoever.
If you look after the rest of your teeth, it shouldn't be a problem pulling that one. Good luck.
Reply:Pull it the root canal is followed by cap and crown and it all cost me about 1800.00 Pull the ***** you'll never miss it and go on a cruise.
Reply:count the molars on the side u talk about if it is the 3rd molar u should actually get rid of it, 3rd molars have to be taken out in every person now.
but if it is the 2nd molar (because 3rd molars sometimes don't come out or do untill u are 20 %26amp; up) u should get the root canal. I mean its much more expensive but think of the future, u need the 2nd one because then all the eating process will go on one side of your dental sistem and U will get worst the molars on the other side will get affected and then u will need more root canals or more extractions...
maybe its expensive now, but bridges and rehabilitation will be A LOT and belive me A LOOT more expensive later on
so get ur root canal and a crown if u need any more information send me a msg. ;)
