Root Canal Question??

I just had a root canal done yesterday on my top tooth next to the front tooth. When I got home from the dentist, I noitced I had a black line on my gums which surrounded the tooth. Is this normal after a root canal? You can see the black line so I try not to smile that much. I am getting my teeth bleached next week from the dentist. Will that hide the line?

Root Canal Question??
it should. I just had a root canal the other day, well about 3 weeks ago. It was just senstive. no black line. sorry.
Reply:I had the same thing done to my tooth and yes the bleaching took care of the discoloration. Good luck
Reply:The black line on top of your tooth is going to disappear when your gums grow over it and it will happen. That's how mine looked when I first had mine done, but after a few days, my gums grew over it. I think the dentist pushed you gums up to do the work, but they will go back to normal after a week or so. (Just like pushing the cuticles of your finger nail back when you are manicuring them, then the cuticle grows back.)
Reply:It might just be due to the pressure the clamp puts on your gum during the root canal procedure that this black line has been revealed. Should be fine in a few days, even without bleaching.
