Root Canal Approx 10 Years Ago - now experiencing pain.?

i had a root canal in my left front tooth almost 10 years ago. 2-3 years ago i had a dentist go back in there to help lighten it/reduce discoloration - at the time of that work he drilled and i had no pain.

on saturday, i did an ocean swim, which is not unusual for me, but the surf was rough and i ended up with a little salt water up my nose and some weird residual sinus ache on my left side (weird for me, i've never ever in my life experience sinus pain) and one of the places i have pain is my tooth - even now, four days later. my sinuses still feel a little off, (on the left side) but mostly - my left front tooth that's been dead for 10 years no aches.

is it possible that there's something more going on here than sinus pain? should a tooth that i had a root canal in 10 years ago ache like this with sinus pain?

most probably a refereed pain from your sinus. Check with your ENT.
Reply:Sinus pain can definitely make your teeth hurt. I'd give it a few more days and see if it clears up on it's own.

Another option is that the tooth cracked. I have one that I had a root canal and crown done on about 7 years ago. It bothers me off and on, so I finally went to an oral surgeon. He said it has a hairline crack in it and will have to eventually be extracted and have an implant put there. That was really great news when it was already a $3 thousand dollar tooth. :(
Reply:Yes, it definetly can be your sinuses... However, as the proud owner of three root canals... I can tell you that you may need more work on the 10 yr old one... Sorry!! ( I had it done after 12 years)..they may have to re-drill, and replace the cap... Good luck.
