Root canal question?

In 2 days I will be getting my root canal. A few weeks before this though, my dentist gave some medicine to help the infected tooth so it wouldn't be infected anymore. The medicine worked wonderfully!! I had to take it for a week and my tooth felt soo good. Then this week it started to hurt really really bad like it did before. I'm afriad that it is infected again! If it is, they won't do the root canal that I have been waiting for weeks for!!

What can I do!!

Thanks

Root canal question?
I'm guessing the tooth itself is infected? (not your gum or something else)

If so, why wouldn't they do a root canal if it is infected? The purpose of the root canal is to remove the infected pulp and the nerve, to fix the problem for good. If it hurts and is infected, all the more reason to get the root canal..
Reply:Its good you have been on antibiotics. You just need to get the root canal started. You tooth will feel much better as long as the doctor opens the tooth. He might give you some antibiotics afterwards. Good luck
Reply:First, you "immediately" call your dentist and tell him or her about the pain coming back.....If your simply looking for pain drugs and using the Root Canal as an excuse to get it,you need to know that the State Drug Agency tracts controlled pain drugs prescriptions through an automatic computer system that alerts them to any Rx that appears to be excessive or given multiple times in a short time span. There is no excuse to put off a Root Canal more than ten day's.
