Braces and root canal teeth - is it compatible? TMJ, functional appliances - is it worth it?

I have about 4 root canals (three of them are my upper front teeth) in my mouth and I need 4 more to be done. I'm going to put my braces and my orthodont told me that first I have to wear braces and then I have to do my aesthetics (root canals, change old fillings and put crowns on all root canal teeth). My question is...will root canal teeth bear the presure of braces (because there's no nerve in them - so they are quite weak). I'm 25 and right now I'm wearing functional appliances to extand my archs and get rid of TMJ problem. But all my teeth are really bad (almost all of them have fillings). And another guestion... is it worth doing this orthodontic thing or should I have just got veneers? Anyway it's already too late...

ALENA,

AT 25 YEARS OLD WHY WOULD YOU HAVE PALATAL EXPANSIONS? THE PALATAL SUTURE IN YOUR UPPER PALATE WOULD HAVE CLOSED BY NOW.

ANY TEETH THAT HAVE HAD ROOT CANALS OR WILL HAVE ROOT CANALS SHOULD BE CROWNED.

WHY IS THIS?

ANYTIME A ROOT HAS HAD A ROOT CANAL THE NOURISHING VESSELS AND NERVE IN THE TOOTH ARE GONE.

SO WHAT?

THE TOOTH BEGINS TO BECOME BRITTLE AND DRY OUT. THAT'S WHY YOU NEED CROWNS TO KEEP THIS TOOTH FROM BREAKING.

THE TMD PROBLEMS ARE CAUSED BY GRINDING, THIS GRINDING IS DUE TO STRESS. THE WAY TO GET RID OF THE STRESS IS TO WEAR AN N.T.I. APPLIANCE.

THIS WILL EFFECTIVELY STOP YOU FROM GRINDING.

YOU SHOULD REALLY CONSULT WITH A PROSTHODONTIST THAT WILL GIVE YOU AN INFORMED OPINION AS WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE AND IN EXACTLY WHICH ORDER. FIRST GET A WELL INFORMED SECOND OPINION.

IT'S NEVER TOO LATE, UNLESS YOU'RE DEAD AND BURRIED.
Reply:If it were me I would just get veneers. Braces are a thing of the past in comparison to veneers especially as adults. Good Luck
