Root canal? Crown? Hmo Insurance?

Does anybody know if HMO'S cover the cost of a root canal and a crown? Im scheduled to get a root canal done on the 3rd of august and im scared to death i don't take pain very easily. But im more scared if i get it done and then my hmo insurance won't cover a crown what then? Please if anybody knows the answer to this question: HELP!

Root canal? Crown? Hmo Insurance?
You would have to undergo the treatment whether or not the insurance covers it, right? For me, my insurance covers nothing on dental treatments and i had to take solid cash out of my own pocket to pay for it and it was not cheap. What to do, showing a crooked tooth whenever i smile is sth i cannot bear.
Reply:well i worked at a dentist office for a year so i can help .. im almost 100% sure that your hmo insurance will not cover your dental work 100 percent ..it never does ..come to think about it you will be lucky if they cover anything ..the way hmo works is they give the dental office a fee sheet and it has all the prices on it for whatever the patient could be getting done ..off of that sheet the dental office will charge you ..im sure you will be paying the least for the root canal, post and crown will be about 400 dollars and you be lucky if its that because im sure it will be way more then that ..the best type of dental insurance is any type of ppo plan because that would cover you up to 80% for the root canal and a root canal can go all the way up to 700 dollars..

and 50% for your crown which can run up to about 600 dollars you know you can always call your insurance company and ask them yourself ..they will be happy to help you and where i use to work we always told the patient before hand what they would have to pay ..so call your insurance or your dental office ..whatever you do make sure you get the root canal ..you need it and its better then getting your tooth pulled ..once you start pulling teeth out it f*cks your other teeth up and makes them all loose ..good luck
Reply:HMO? You poor sap.
