After 8 weeks wearing a temporary bridge involving 3 teeth and the pontic on my lower jaw, 1 root canal was done on a prepared tooth and now I need a second one on molar performed by entotic dentist to whom I was sent to by my regular dentist. These 2 root canals will cost me $1,500 extra! I already owe regular dentist $2,ooo dollars for bridge. He says after root canals,a new impression and temp bridge needs to be made because first bridge didn't fit! Is this in the realm of possibly happening? Is it difficult to sue a dentist? Please offer advice from a dental or legal point. What would you do? I have to be able to chew again! Thanks
Another root canal needed!?
Its probably not possible to successfully sue your dentist just because your teeth are so stuffed from not looking after them that they need some root canals and a bridge. Is it the american way to sue everyone over nothing? %26lt;superman quote: truth justice and the american way... i'm gonna sue you for all ur worth%26gt; I hope it doesn't spread to australia!
It also doesn't sound like you have completed a permanent bridge yet either. This is not possible while some of the teeth that the bridge needs to be supported by still have not had the root canal yet. You can not (without much damage of the permanent bridge) put a bridge on a dead tooth that still needs a root canal. It also sounds like from your description that the dentist you are seeing has done a root canal, prepared some teeth and made you a temporary bridge. Does the $2000 also include the root canal and the tooth preparation/ other work??
It would not be suprising that your bridge would not fit anymore if the shape of the tooth has changed alot that it needs to be supported on... basically once all the root canals are finished you should get the permanent bridge instead of the temporary one.
From a legal stand point, you need to prove negligence, or extortion, neither of which you seem to have a case in.
Reply:Are you a panel of dentists who chose this as "best answer".? Where's the compassion for a helpless consumer? You're assuming he neglected his teeth = judgement! Yes, garrisonjj, finish the work then sue the pants off the greedy ones. Report It
Reply:It's entirely possible. If you don't agree with the diagnosis, see a different dentist. A second opinion can be worthwhile.
Reply:hmm cant blame the dentist here really... they are just trying to help you ...but second opinion would be a good help too if you are not satisfied with your dentist advice. if your dentist sent you to see a endodontics specialist they do cost a lot more than a normal dentist.. maybe try to find another dentist who can really perform a normal endodontic job.. specialist cost far too much..
Reply:Why would you sue your dentist? Sounds like he only has been helping you.
