i had a root canal on 1 of my front tooth about 2 years ago due to a broken tooth. im 14 now and getting horribly teased at due to the fact that my tooth is getting darker and very noticible (i can barley smile with out feeling bad =[ )which is the best solution to get it back to a normal color
Root canal color problems need help!?
Get a porcelain crown or veneer. Have a consultation with your dentist and he or she will explain them and allow you to make the best choice for you.
Reply:Have it removed and have the doctor out a false one in it's place. The tooth is dead!
Reply:you can either have it bleached, capped or have a facing put on it. any of these can be done by your dentist.
Reply:When the tooth is dead, it darkens over time. Which is why you should have had a permanent restoration on the tooth after the root canal (a porcelain crown perhaps since you probably had a lot of tooth loss). It's not too late though..go see your dentist.
Reply:Besides a crown or a veneer, which is probably the best choice, but also the most expensive, you could ask your dentist about internal bleaching, depending on the severity of the darkness of your tooth. During a consultation your dentist will let you know the best route to go.
Reply:You can also ask about a bleaching technique that is getting some attention lately. They place the bleach agent inside your tooth and reseal it and you leave it in for about a week. After a week you can go back and get more bleach inserted if needed if it is still too dark. This technique may take 3 or more weeks but it is a lot better than getting a whole new crown as it leaves the natural tooth structure you have left intact. Talk to your dentist about it!
Reply:You need a crown, this is a common problem after rt canal. DMD
Reply:You can get a tooth internally bleached.
