I was at the dentisat a few days ago for a root canal. The dentist took some x_rays and came back to say that I have a Curved root I think. He sat and tried to get the pin thing in my tooth for a good 20 minutes. He took it out and said I can't get past this twisted root. He sent me to a specialist and now I'm Kind of wondering if since the first profesional couldn't do it then what says a different one can? Is a specialist a flook too? He cost about twice as much as the first guy and I was wondering if any dentists out there can Give there opinion.
Root Canal?
I've been in your shoes...my dentist in the past didn't do such a good job, then he retired and a new guy was taking over, and that one sounds exactly like your first dentist in your story, and he too sent me to some specialist that was trying to charge me a fortune on top of the first quack... I got fed up with it all and absolutely stopped letting any of that collusive team getting at me and went to find a totally new dentist... Now the one I found is great ! does it all by himself and his assistant, no scams, no conspiracies, no B.S., just pure talent and honesty, and regular fair price. You should consider the same path.
Reply:i have heard of the root even being grown to the jaw bone, so a curved root is legit but should be able to be removed
Reply:There are allot of nerves in your jaw, the doctor may not want to try too hard because there have been many cases of facial paralysis because of bad dentistry. I would pay for the specialist.
Reply:I do some of "my own" root canal treatments and I refer the harder cases to the specialist. Part of the reason I don;t refer everyone is because they DO cost more money. The difference between me and an endodontist is that they have had a couple more years training in this field that they are especially interested in (and I am not...) and they do nothing else all day, every day besides work on root canals - usually the more difficult ones. They simply get better at it than I will ever be.
If root canal treatment is not performed about 99.9% correctly, it will not be siccessful. I do the ones that are up front and easy and let the specialists earn their money on the rest.
Reply:A SPECIALIST HAS THE EQUIPMENT TO GET AROUND THOSE CURVE ROOTS AND SPECIAL OTHER STUFF TO CHECK HOW LONG YOUR ROOT IS. A DENTIST MAY NOT HAVE ALL THIS SPECIAL EQUIPMENT COS THAT NOT THE ONLY THING HE MAY DO SO ITS NOT ECONOMICAL FOR HIM TO KEEP THIS EQUIPMENT. IT IS GOOD THAT HE REFERED YOU, WOULD YOU HAVE RATHER HIM ACT LIKE HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING AND THEN RUIN YOUR TOOTH, I THINK NOT!
