Root canal?

on friday i had the 1st part of a root canal done in a tooth that has a permanent crown on it. the doctor told me i would probably be sore for 2-3 days, but the pain should decrease and not be as bad as before the procedure. on friday and sat i felt horrible and my whole jaw was sore, i presume from the shots and holding my mouth open for 1 1/2 hrs. on sunday i felt better and about noon i suddenly got this pain in my tooth that i can only explain by saying it felt like an electric shock. it lasted only a second, but hurt like hell and made my mouth salivate a lot. afterwards my entire jaw hurt so much i had to take a pain pill. today, its monday and i have noticed my jaw hurts and the tooth hurts just like before the procedure. i go back Dec 11th to have the 2nd part done. is this normal??

Root canal?
I've had a root canal and it doesn't sound normal to me. I would call the dentist and explain your pain. They may want you to come in early. Trust me, you don't want to go through the holiday with your mouth hurting!

Good luck! :)
Reply:Deffinetly call your Dentist. The Dentist should be more than glad to take any worry you have. I hope all is okay and you can have your tooth feeling great by Thanksgiving!
Reply:YOUR DENTIST PROBABLY WANTED TO WAIT TO SEE IF THE INFECTION HAD CLEARED UP BEFORE HE FINISHED. WELL, AS YOU CAN NOW TELL, NOT ALL IS FINE. IT'S A LONG TIME TO WAIT UNTIL DEC. 12. GO BACK AS AN EMERGENCY PATIENT A.S.A.P. TO HAVE THIS TAKEN CARE OF.
