Root canal?

i just found out my some friends that i might need to get root canal. i have a huge cavity that is half of my tooth this is in my back tooth. and its not really deep but its deep im so scared any help?

I had root canals done on me, actually I had 3 of them. It isnt that bad. All they do is givng you novacaine and then they do whatever is needed to complete the therapy. Its not that bad. After the novacaine you dont feel anything. The bad part of the therapy is sitting there all bored.





After, they put temporary fillings and to be all hoenst with you, your tooth will be sensitive and it will hurt, but they give you pain killers. They send you back to your general dentist and he'll give you permanent fillings such as silver or gold. And your done.





Root Canal Therapy has taught me one thing, if you have a cavity get it fixed right away when its still small.
Reply:Just chill out. i had to get a root canal when i was 10. i thought it was going to hurt really bad but it didnt. after that my mom bought and made me smoothies. ( this is if it started to hurt) but it didnt hurt so i just got a hole bunch of smoothies and milk shakes!

Reply:I say if you don't need a root canal: don't do it. My mom had one and it screwed her mouth up so bad that it wasn't even funny. I advise you that you don't do it, but if you absolutely HAVE to- than yes.
Reply:a root canal is when the teeth is decayed by bacteria so much that it needs to be removes before it eats the gums or anything else in it

even if you do have to get one you wont feel it and just have to drink liquads for awhile
Reply:I've had about five root canals so far in my life. It's not a big deal at all. What they're doing is preventing further infection and killing the nerves, preventing further pain. Dental procedures have come a long way. If you have to have one then you have to have one. It's not a big deal, believe me. I'd rather go to the Gynecologist than the Dentist. That's how much I dislike dental visits because I just don't have good teeth. You'll be fine. Just breath!
Reply:Seriously, don't freak out about it. I have had one root canal and they numb you up really good so that you don't feel anything besides pressure and vibration, and for me, the numbness lasted for about 7 hours, so i really didn't feel much discomfort after it. i didn't need any pain medication afterwards, that's how much it DIDN'T hurt.
