I had a root canal done about a year and a half ago, and it started hurting about six months ago. I went to another dentist and he said the other dentist did a good job and it wasn't infected or anything. He did think that one of my other teeth might need one in the future, but he couldn't see any decay on the xray. It seems like my teeth hurt worse when i'm under stress. I'm just tired of my teeth hurting....he said he would do a root canal, but was hesitant since he couldn't see any decay. Has anyone else had this prob??
Root Canal????
You may be grinding your teeth at night. Wear a nightguard and see if that helps. You might want to set up a consult with an endodontist. These are dentists that specialize in root canals and have more advanced equipment to check and see what is wrong. If there is something wrong with the other root canal or if there is something wrong with this other tooth. Sometimes a root canal can fail even if done well. It is based on the body/immune system and healing. If the body doesn't heal properly after a root canal it can still hurt and an endodontist can treat this. Or, he can check the other tooth and tell you if it needs a root canal. Sometimes a tooth can need a root canal if the nerve dies, usually due to trauma like being hit with something or a car accident. But, if you are grinding your teeth, you may be causing the pain.
Reply:you might be a grinder at night if your teeth hurt if he didn't see any cavities. you grind your teeth probably you might need a bite guard. Ask your dentist if he sees any wear down areas on your teeth like signs of grinding if so you can buy a night guard at your local walgreens.
