Root Canal?

My mom had been having a lot of tooth ache so she went to the dentist. He told her she needed a root canal and so she got one. Ever since she had it done she has been feeling a lot of pain in her jaw, in her neck, and all around head. The dentist doesnt know what is wrong but we are wondering if maybe an infection spread to other parts of her body. She had been giving antibiotics but nothing seems to be working. Her symptoms have only been getting worse since the root canal which was over four months ago. What could it be?

Root Canal?
If she took the full course of antibiotics (at least 10 days worth usually) and the pain started after that point, I would look at a possible reinfection, or food got in there later and infected it. Have them check / re-check thoroughly (maybe an X-ray, throat culture, possibly even a spinal tap - not to alarm you - just to rule it out %26amp; to be sure, etc.) to eliminate any other possibilities, or maybe go get a second opinion by going to an Otolaryngologist (an eye, ear, nose throat specialist), or an ENT physician. Best of Luck!!!
Reply:go to hospital, chiropractor, and allergist... could be reaction, adujustment or somthing.
Reply:Sometimes there are after effects of the injection too. There can be soreness, stiffness in the neck and face. There can even be permanent paralysis or numbness. If she takes another course of antibiotics and doesn't get relief, I would consider the fact that it could have something to do with a nerve that was compromised during the administration of the anesthesia.
Reply:She might have to see an endodontist, a root canal specialist, if the root canal doesn't heal. They can access the situation and determine if the root canal can be done over, or if maybe the roots are resorbting.. the tooth may not be saveable

Tell her to ask her DDS to send her to an endodontist for a consultation
Reply:Did the dentist treated the correct tooth that was causing the pain?
